Dollish Picture Extravaganza!

No swatches tonight as I'm not feeling 100%, but I would be remiss if I didn't share today's nail mail!  Today, I received the newest members of my Dollish Polish collection - 7 polishes from Dolly's Super Mario Brothers collection.  Dollish Polish is a hand-made polish brand created by the super creative Dolly.  You can find her store here to purchase these beauties.  She also posts store updates on her store site in the menu on the left, on her facebook page, and on twitter.  You can also find her polishes on Leah Ann Llarowe's site, Llarowe.  The next Dollish restock will be on Llarowe, this Wednesday, at 1pm mst and 7 pm mst.  Be warned, though.  We polish lovers are like a swarm of locusts.  You've gotta move fast to get what you want!

After the Llarowe sale, there are no set plans to restock the Super Mario Brothers collection, so get them while you can!!  All right, get ready for some serious picture spam!

From Left: The Koopa King, Go Luigi, 1-Up, A Peachy Princess, Toad-ally Awesome, Wicked Wario, Dino-mite Yoshi

These are all of the polishes I got in the mail today.  I was lucky enough a few restocks back to have gotten It's a Me Mario already, so I didn't order it again this restock.

The full Dollish Polish Super Mario Brothers Collection

There's Mario!  Reunited with the gang at last!

I decided to get minis of Wicked Wario, Dino-mite Yoshi, and The Koopa King because they aren't my typical comfort zone colors.  I think I was a bit off on Wicked Wario, though, because I really do love purples.  I may end up trying to get a full size in the Llarowe restock tomorrow.

Here are some closeups of the bottles

Stars, diamonds, and hexes, oh my!

As I was getting pics of these guys, I realized that I have more Dollish Polishes than any other indie brand!  I can't wait to get these all swatched up for you guys!

The gang's all here!

Some people collect Lynnderellas, but it appears that I collect Dollishes!  Man, they are gorgeous!  Just as a reminder, many of these polishes have larger glitters that tend to sink.  Make sure you flip them upside-down a few minutes before you use them, and they should be good to go!  Also, with the major glitter bombs, you might need to use the dab method.

I had planned to do something non-polished related for this post, but it was easier to just spam you with pictures.  I'm planning to share a recipe tomorrow, so stick around if you're interested in some yummy and healthy food!

Which polish brand takes up the most room in your collection?  Which Dollish would you like for me to swatch first?

Hello Dolly and Red Starbursts

Today was a loooooong day. I'm wrapping up work on a contract gig I've been working on since February, so I'm kind of burnt out and ready for something new. Tomorrow should be my last day on that project, so I'm really looking forward to taking a few days off! My hair needs some serious TLC, and I should probably clean my house. Eeek! Anyway, onto the real reason you're here. Omg, ya'll, I have more polish for you guys today!

Surprised??? Yeah, didn't think so.

First off, let's start with the MAIL CALL!!!

From left: Pretty & Polished He is King, Cancer Moon, Tuesday Taurus (x2), KBShimmer Pixie Tears, and Simply Sweet.

I hope to be able to break into these bad boys soon. The swatches looked great on the nail wheels. I was hesitant about He is King because it has a lot of bar glitter, but I am glad I got it now because it really is pretty. Although, we'll see if it looks good with my freakishly white skin! Hah! I can't wait to see what Chelsea comes up with for Virgo, since, naturally, I'm a Virgo.

On to today's mani. Yesterday, I showed you guys my Pretty & Polished Cheer Camp mani. Today, I decided to be lazy and just add to it by using Pretty & Polished Hello Dolly as a topper. Hello Dolly is a pretty glitter top coat that has a clear base, silver holographic glitters, purple glitters, white glitters of various sizes, and giant hot pink hexes.

Oooooh... Ahhhhhh...

Do you see those giant hot pink hexes??? Yummy!

Sometimes when a polish has large glitters like Hello Dolly's, they are a pain in the butt to fish out. Often, the easiest trick is to flip your polish upside-down, roll it between your hands, and then place it upside-down on a table for a few minutes before you start your mani. However, if that doesn't work, you can always use a toothpick to dig them out. I prefer the upside-down method, but it doesn't work on every polish. Luckily, it worked great on Hello Dolly!

Notice how I didn't get a hex on my thumb?

Hello Dolly looked great over Cheer Camp. The lightness of Cheer Camp contrasted nicely with the shiny holo and crisp colors of Hello Dolly.

This is definitely a polish you'll need to use Gelous on before your top coat. It is quite bumpy without a little extra help. All in all, I really like this polish. The holo glitters reflected onto my steering wheel on my drive into work this morning, and I seriously love that! It also looks fantastic over both light and dark purples. Definitely try to get your hands on this the next time Pretty & Polish restocks! You can find her store here.

As a side note, today I discovered one of the most amazing things I think I've ever seen...

OMG, YA'LL!!!!! THEY'RE ALL REDS/PINKS!!!!!

My mind? Consider it blown. I detest digging through the yellows, purples, greens, and oranges to get to the good stuff (i.e. anything pink or red). I bought these for my polish swaps/sales, but I may hoard them all for myself... My precious...

Do you like my terrible MS paint skills?

In case you're curious, yes. I'm a big old dork. I'm sure you understand.

What is your favorite Starburst flavor?
How do you extract wicked huge hexes from your favorite bottles of polish?

I may branch out into something totally different tomorrow instead of a mani post... You'll just have to check back and see! Have a great night, all!

I finally did it!

I broke down and started a blog! I'm always taking pictures of pretty much everything, so why not chronicle my exploits?

So, a little bit about me... I'm a 29-year-old, almost 30!, attorney. I'm married and have 2 kitties that think they are people. I love photography, even though I'm not very good at it yet. I like to read (a lot), watch films (both silly and works of art), bake gluten free (when I can), collect nail polishes, look at shoes (even though I can't buy them), and play music (I have a bass guitar that I'm attempting to learn so I can play with my hubby who plays guitar). I'm on a journey to get healthy, both mentally and physically, so I will probably have a little bit of that on the blog as well. I think that pretty much sums me up!

Let's start this party off by checking out my current mani! I'm wearing Pretty & Polished Cheer Camp. Pretty & Polished is an indie brand started by the lovely Chelsea who sells her hand-made polishes on Etsy. You can find her store here. Check her facebook and twitter pages for updates on restocks.

I had a client meeting yesterday, so I didn't think it would be very appropriate to wear something super blingy, so I chose Cheer Camp. It is a very subdued and girly polish. From far away, you can't even tell it has glitter, which makes it very work appropriate. Hey, wait! Can glitter polish ever be work appropriate?!? Why don't you tell me?

This is three coats topped with Gelous and Seche Vite. This is going on day 3 with very minimal tip wear and, surprisingly, no chips. I'm so super hard on my hands and nails, so I'm very surprised and pleased to see that Cheer Camp is holding up so well!

As you can see, it is a very pale pink with medium pink and lavender hexes and fine fuchsia glitters. This polish has made its way to the top of my list. I was able to wear it to my client meeting with confidence since it is so delicate and subdued.

Well, I hope to see you guys here again! I'm off to bed now. Next time I watch the Olympic gymnastics I'm going to have to put it on mute, lol! That cheering with those hiiiiiiigh pitched voices grates on your nerves!!

Have a great night!
